Nidaria: Dynamic Pendant Lighting
The lantern pendant that thinks it's a jellyfish.

Nidaria is an expression of materiality: the structure is held in tension by a central cord, allowing three layers of translucent drafting film to bulge organically. The drafting film strips are contained by nested hexagons, made from scorched poplar. As a user adjusts the length of the cord, the frame compresses and the beam angle spreads.

Nidaria only hints at its colours while turned off, but the innermost strips of drafting film are printed with a bold gradient that illuminate like warning stripes for would-be predators.

Nidaria gets its name from the phonetic pronunciation of "Cnidaria", the phylum of the box jellyfish.
